Pittsburgh Steelers v LA Chargers
A big game for the AFC playoff picture with the Steelers looking to pick up another win in their pursuit of a first round bye and the Chargers trying to at least secure a wild card berth. Things have not looked right in Pittsburgh for the past fortnight with Ben Roethlisberger struggling with turnovers and an opportunistic Chargers defence ready to come to town. The visitors have taken a big hit with Melvin Gordon out through injury but they do have a backup in Austin Ekeler who is not quite on the same level but a more than capable short term fill in. This game has the makings of a shootout here and I am backing Phillip Rivers to make fewer mistakes than Big Ben.
LA Kings v Carolina Hurricanes
These Kings should be much better than they are, currently at the bottom of the Western Conference, hosting a Carolina side that has lost 13 of their 25 games so far this season. The Kings have gone 2-2 in their last four games but home ice has not been in an advantage for them here. What does work in their favour is the fact the Hurricanes are kicking off a three game west coast road trip here and they may be looking ahead to the “bigger” clashes against San Jose and Anaheim. Another upset here with the Kings to hold serve at home.
Levante v Athletic Bilbao
On the plus side for Bilbao, they have only lost four games all season. On the down side for Bilbao, they have only won once, with a litany of draws leaving them in a relegation battle. Since a very profitable October, results have not been as kind for the home side Levante as they have drawn three of their last four fixtures and lost to Real Sociedad in that time. With both sides having recent form for draws, take that value play here and look for it to continue.
